AMES, Iowa – Iowa State sophomore center Audi Crooks has been named one of 10 Katrina McClain Award candidates as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Friday afternoon.
Crooks becomes the second Cyclone to be named a Top 10 finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award which recognizes the top centers in women’s NCAA Division I basketball. Kristin Scott (2018-2021) was previously named a Top 10 Finalist in 2020. The award is named after the three-time All-American, 1994 National Player of the Year and Class of 2015 Hall of Famer.
Crooks has averaged 22.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game to lead the Cyclones in 2024-25. She has scored in double figures in 57 straight contests and posted 16 20-plus point scoring performances this year. The Algona native became the fastest player in Iowa State women’s basketball to eclipse 1,000 career points earlier this season, reaching the mark in her 49th career game. The 6-3 center is shooting 58.4 percent from the floor and has finished seven games shooting over 65 percent. She has tallied eight double-doubles this season and 15 in her career.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in both of the remaining rounds starting today, February 7, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
In March, the Top 10 list will be narrowed to just five, and in late March, the five finalists will be presented to Abdul-Jabbar, Leslie, and the Hall of Fame’s selection committees, where winners will be selected. The Selection Committees for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lisa Leslie Awards are composed of top men’s and women’s college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
Crooks and the Cyclones return to Hilton Coliseum on Saturday, February 8 to take on Colorado. Iowa State will be honoring its 2000 and 2001 Big 12 Championship teams at the game which is scheduled to tip-off at 4 pm (CT).
