AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head coach Bill Fennelly announced the addition of Erin Brocka to his staff as the director of women’s basketball strength and conditioning Thursday afternoon.

Brocka was most recently at Purdue (Jan. 2020-May 2023), working with the Boilermaker volleyball and diving programs. Prior to her time in West Lafayette, Brocka spent four years at UC Santa Barbara. She has also spent time at UCLA, Kentucky, TCU and Northern Iowa.

“We are excited to welcome Erin to our staff in such an important role,” Fennelly said. “Erin is one of the most respected professionals in the field of strength and conditioning and is a great addition to the Iowa State women’s basketball family.”

During her time at Purdue, she was responsible for creating and implementing training programs for a volleyball team that made the NCAA Elite Eight in 2020 and 2021, while advancing to the second round in 2022. She worked with 12 All-Americans between the volleyball and diving programs, including National Champion Tyler Downs on the diving team.

“Growing up with Iowa State women’s basketball, it’s a huge honor to be a part of Coach Fennelly’s legacy and member of his staff," Brocka said.

A 2011 graduate of Northern Iowa, Brocka was a member of the Panther women’s basketball team from 2007-11. A team captain, Brocka earned Academic All-Missouri Valley Conference honors in 2010 and 2011, while she was named to the MVC All-Defensive Team in 2011. Brocka earned her master’s degree from UNI in 2012.

Brocka is a CSCCa-SCCC certified strength coach, 200-hour yoga teacher training-certified, Baptiste Level I certified and TPI Levels 1 and 2 certified.
