I see that Purdy's base salary for this year is $705,000 with a $19,000 signing bonus. I'm unclear on whether that signing bonus is separate or part of the $77,000 signing bonus for the overall contract, which was for $3.7 million over 4 years for an average of $934,000 a year. Only $77,000 of that, or the amount of the signing bonus, was guaranteed. What's more interesting (to me) is that his backup, Josh Johnson, is earning more than Purdy, having signed a 1 year, $1,120,000 contract. Not bad for a journeyman QB in the waning days of his career.
