Oakland > Ames > Cedar Rapids > Ames
I was hoping to get my first Zombie Burger when I was in Des Moines last week for the Coaches vs Cancer Gala, but I had too much fun at the event (free beer) and was ready to head back to Cedar Rapids in the morning. I've heard all the talk about Five Guys coming to Des Moines and the discussion is giving the place mixed reviews. I've never been to one.

But the thing that gets me when people are discussing burger joints is the high marks that B-Bops gets for their burgers. I have stopped a few times over a period of a few years and have not been impressed. But I drove through and took it home, so it may have lost something in the transport delay. The GF refuses to eat there. I have heard so many people rave about their burgers, that I want to try them again. But I can only do that in Ames and I have to eat solo, which limits my opportunities.

So what do folks on this board say are the best chain or fast food local burgers? And specifically do people regard B-Bops highly or do you fall in the GF's camp where they are inedible? In writing this I'm thinking I may head to Cedar Rapids' own Burgerfeen tomorrow. I don't think they are the greatest, but they aren't bad and I like the environment of the restaurant in the old Spring House location.
