I have avoided posting anything after our loss the other day until now. Besides, yesterday I was driving all day to Akron, OH for the Holidays.
I had trouble sleeping Saturday night because I kept reliving the last minute or so of the game. Why did Georges slip and fall near the end when he would have likely either scored to put us ahead or get fouled and go to the line? Why did Monte miss the last second shot, etc.?
However, that being said we lost the game because UNI was unconscious from beyond the 3 point line and we were ice cold. I don't think our defense was all that bad. Those guys were throwing them in from 25 feet or more even when we were closely guarding them at times. There is not much you can do about that. I was very concerned when UNI could not hit the broad side of a barn at New Mexico from 3. I figured they would be hot from 3 in our game and they did not disappoint. When a team is that hot from 3 point range, I don't care what team they play. They will win 9 times out of ten. In my opinion, some of you are being overly harsh about this loss. How can you jump over the bridge after one stinking loss to a team that was unconscious from the 3 point line? Did you guys see how many top 10 teams lost Saturday to "inferior" opponents? This loss will by no means ruin our season. We are still a very good team.
I have a good feeling about tomorrow night's game at Cincinnati. Besides our usual heroes, I think that Matt and Deonte will be difference makers tomorrow night. One thing that concerns me, however, is Monte's health. I sure hope his hip injury does not linger much longer.
