On Mike and Mike this morning, Greenberg was going off about all the fouls being called in college BB, and how that is ruining the game. He mentioned that last night, there were 148 fouls called in 160 minutes of game time.
To me, if you don't make the calls, you allow the game-long muggings of your guards that Kansas was known for for so many years. If you don't want the fouls called, then don't foul.
I know the refs were instructed to call the games closer a couple of years ago. It seems to have cleaned up the guard play some. But the calls inside are so inconsistent from team to team and game to game.
The only calls that really drive me nuts and seem unnecessary are the little touch fouls players get called for on players coming off around screens. Refs seems to have very quick whistles on those...often times purely out of anticipation it seems.
