I was watching video highlights from this weekend's football games and who should make an appearance but Memphis and Joe Scates. He caught about a 50-yard TD pass on a slant across the field, where he started to run into a lot of traffic at about the 15 yard line and appeared to be stopped around the 5, but somehow escaped and made it into the end zone.
This got me curious as to how he's been doing at Memphis. He only has three receptions after 3 games, but two of them went for TDs and the one in the highlight is not even his longest one. He's been credited with a 79-yard score and is averaging 50.3 yards on his 3 catches. So it appears as if he's continuing his wildly inconsistent play that he showed for us, where he looked like an all-star for one shining minute, then disappeared for much of the rest of the game.
