It’s an exaggeration, I know. I’m watching the movie Moneyball. There’s a scene when Billy Beane has hired the economist from Cleveland to come to Oakland and he’s going through his formula to ID undervalued players, and he describes it like Santa’s Island of Misfit Toys; players no one else wants, but they’re missing their unseen value, in numerical terms. It made me think of Iowa State’s men’s basketball team this year (maybe the FB team, too?). Not really an island of misfit toys, but undervalued players that have more value and ability than others see. CTJO (and CMC?) are our Billy Bean(s)!
