For years, watching our offense, I have never been sure what we were trying to accomplish......who we are offensively. For at least a half yesterday.....I knew what we were trying to do, and I think maybe the team did too. It may not work against everybody, but I liked what I saw. Weeks ago I posted comments from an analyst relative and former ISU and professional QB that every play was a 5-7 step drop back by the QB. They said you cannot run the zone read if the QB never carriers the ball. is lanning a great thrower, I have no idea. But he was pretty good yesterday. Why? Because we ran the ball, and part of that was that he was also a threat to run the ball. Once they have to respect the fact that you can or might run the ball, things improve a lot for the QB, and the ol. I have been an advocate that we run more of a KSU style offense. Slow the game down, run read option and throw from a position of strength. Btw....you can throw a lot, I don't mean run every play....but the defense has to know you can and will do both. If you keep tempo teams off the field (offensively) they can get impatient. Like most fans, I am searching for Hope. I liked what our team did the second half. Yeah.....maybe Baylor was already on cruise......although that is usually not their style. I hope we stick with what we did yesterday and see how it works against several more opponents. Also.......the defense is much better when the offense does something.
