I'll start with my BIL's recipe for brussels sprouts. He is a rabid Nebraska fan and a far, far, FAR left political guy, but I love him anyway. This recipe is tremendous.

1 lb. Brussels sprouts, cleaned and trimmed
1/2 C. Blue cheese
1/2 C. heavy whipping cream
2 slices bacon
1/2 C. walnut halves
1 Shallot, sliced

Cook the sprouts, either by microwave or sautee, until fork tender....do NOT overcook.

In large skilled, fry bacon until crisp. Set aside on paper towels, drain most of fat from pan.

Place walnuts in pan and toast over high heat until they start to brown (about 5 minutes)

Reduce heat to medium and add sliced shallot and cook, stirring frequently, until translucent.

Add sprouts, stir to coat with pan drippings. You might want to add some of the bacon fat. salt and pepper to taste.

Add cream and blue cheese. Stir and heat until cheese is mostly melted and sprouts are well covered. Simmer over low heat another 5-10 minutes until sauce starts to thicken.

Pour into serving bowl. Use scraper to ensure you get all the sauce. Crumble bacon on top.

Bring bowl to table. Accept compliments.
