Just saw an archived story about this storm on Channel 8.
I usually have a good memory about events like this, but I am totally drawing a blank about this storm that hit Iowa. I'm guessing that eastern Iowa wasn't affected?
My dad died that summer and we had a very short crop due to drought (another one...1983, '84, '85, '87, '88, '89, '91...it was not a good decade for growing corn in western Clinton County). So I'm sure harvest was over by Halloween.
What parts of the state did this ice storm hit?
