Just got to give a shout out to the Glenwood, IA girls XC teams that are coached by my daughter. On Thursday night in Carroll, IA. The Glenwood teams swept the Hawkeye 10 Conference meet. Varsity, JV, and MS girls teams all came in first in their races.
Imo, the best achievement was done by the MS girls team. Last year they only had 4 MS girls out, and of course weren't in any team scoring in any meets.
This season a bunch of MS girls switched from sitting on the bench at VB games and joined the XC team.
They evidently learned how to run and compete in short order.
For the HS varsity and JV teams this was their 3rd conference Championship in a row, and the 4th in 5 yrs.
In the words of a University of Nebraska XC assistant coach in attendance at the meet Thursday: "These Glenwood girls have what it takes".
Now the real season starts next week for the HS Varsity girls with the State qualifying event in Harlan on Wednesday.
Crossing my fingers that the Glenwood girls continue to run well.
