Following up on my response in another thread about satellite football camps in other states...I'm hearing from various recruits I've communicated with that Cyclone coaches are spreading the word among prospects that they're going to be working the following camps in the state of Texas:
Saturday, June 6th - Texas A&M/Commerce in Dallas, TX
Sunday, June 7th - Stephen F. Austin in Houston, TX
I'm also hearing rumblings of a Florida satellite camp in the west-central portion of the state that would appeal to Tampa and Orlando area prospects, and should have a better feel for the details of that event in the next couple days.
According to NCAA rules, coaches from outside programs are allowed to work alongside coaches from the respective schools but are in no way allowed to organize or hold the camps themselves. Obviously, the wisdom behind this is to allow northern schools such as Iowa State to gain a presence in front of prospects in the southern states that might not have the resources to take unofficial visits or partake in on-campus camps over the summer months. The benefits are obvious for Iowa State, but it works both ways, in that the Texas A&M/Commerce and Stephen F. Austin camps will now have added appeal to prospects that aspire to garner Power-5 interest.
