Here is a very quick look at the battle of the quarterback spot for the first six games:

UNI: Four players are battling for the starting spot at UNI. All will be getting equal snaps in Fall practice. This bodes well for Iowa State with UNI the first game. No returning dominate quarterback. Advantage Iowa State

Iowa: With Pete Beatheard back, Iowa has a solid quarterback who started one game last season and played in nine games. Strong armed qb who is a decent runner. Has shown he can win. Advantage: Even

Toledo: Unsettled at QB going into the season three quarterbacks who all started at some point last season back.. Slight advantage I State

Kansas: Two quarterbacks who took turns starting last season. Cummings is a SR and Cozart a JR. The question, with a new offense, who fits. Should be advantage for Iowa State

Texas Tech: No clear favorite going into fall, but some good talent. At this point advantage Iowa State, but who knows by then? Texas Tech seems to find good slingers.

TCU: Boykin...Huge advantage TCU

Bottomline: In the first half of the season, only two teams have established quarterbacks going into Fall practice, IF you call Beatheard an established starter. This is about as good as it gets advantage wise in the early going. The second half will be much tougher. More later.
