Kamilo Tongamoa is much better than I thought he was, at least stats wise. If he can do even half of what he did at juco this year, he'd be one of our best DTs statistically in a long time.

He had 80 tackles last year, which is just unheard of for an interior defensive lineman. Twenty-five of those tackles were for loss, another outstanding number, and he had nine sacks.

For comparison, 80 tackles would have led us in tackles this year. Two players, Harvey and Seeley each recorded 78 tackles. Linebacker is a position where you expect the guy to make a lot of tackles. Twenty-five tackles for loss would have led the team by a bunch. Jhaustin Thomas was the leader in that category with 9.5 and JaQuan Bailey was our sack leader with 3.5.

Tongamoa is a beast at 6-5, 320 with the quicks to play DE in a pinch. Two coaches did an in-home with him today and our other juco DT commit, Ray Lima, reaffirmed his commitment to the good guys today. I looked up Lima's stats too, but he didn't have even one tackle this past year. I don't know if that means he was injured or if they just didn't keep very good stats on their official site or what.
