I know this is a stressful time for ISU fans not knowing what the future holds. We also have to listen to every sports analyst's predictions and the hype machines for the NBA. Everyone seems to think they know what Fred will do. Some on here are calling for him to just leave and get it over with. A lot of people are mad he has not come out and made a statement. I think we need to step back and look at the situation. He is not quite 6 weeks out from a huge operation. He had open heart surgery with a valve replacement. This involves cutting through your sterum with a saw, cutting a valve out of your heart, and sewing in a mechanical one. This isn't a gallbladder or hernia surgery. Physical recovery will take several months, likely 6 months or more. Psychological recovery can take much longer. He may very well still be on pain medications and not feeling well. He is also now coming to terms with being on blood thinners for the rest of his life. Nobody wants to make life-altering decisions in this condition. Even if he had made a decision before the surgery, he may be having second thoughts. These huge life events have a way of changing a person's outlook. Medical issues like these aren't resolved in a few weeks. Everyone acts like he should be recovered and moving on with life. We're even naming his replacement. Let's give him a little more slack and encouragement. Who knows what will happen but lets give him the benefit of the doubt.
