I thought it might be fun to have a thread to capture thoughts and plans from those travelling to Kansas City for the tournament. And also for those of you, wherever you may be, that have plans revolving around tournament action.
First off for travellers to Kansas City, it looks like sweatshirt weather (or worse). That saddens me because I look forward to the tournament to get an early start on spring. It often marks the end of winter and beginning of spring for me. Cold when I leave, and even snowing sometimes. Usually warm in Kansas City and not too bad when I return to Iowa. Doesn't look like that this year.
I'll be staying at the Marriott again. It was a bit disappointing last year as the service was not up to par. Still suffering from a covid hangover I guess. We will be attending both men's and women's tournaments, which will make for an interesting challenge if the men win on Thursday. They will play at 6:00pm on Friday and the women tip off their tournament action at 7:30pm. Could be an interesting exodus of fans following that game if that all pans out.
We head down Wednesday morning, check in to the hotel, then Uber to Kelly's. Those plans are subject to change based on who we run into at the Marriott lobby, but we usually make it down to Kelly's early. And of course we never forget our mugs. For those that don't know, those big plastic mugs that get you a discount at Kelly's on refills are good for refills year after year. So don't forget to pack your mugs. This is a public service announcement.
