Quebec had a referendum to leave Canada and wanted to start a French Utopia. The vote ended up being 49.2 % to leave Canada, and there was 1.8 % of the ballots that were marked as invalid or blank. There was plenty of discussions prior to the vote that what would happen with the other 10 provinces. Without Quebec, Canada is not really a viable country, Plenty of people at that time suggested that most of the plains provinces would likely try to become US states. Since that time, Canada has made a whole lot of concessions to Quebec, literally making the French culture the super citizens of Canada.
I bring this up because the Premier of Alberta, was at Mara Lago meeting with Trump, and the liberals of Canada are pissed. I personally have been to western Canada, and have met many people there that really love the US, and are very economically dependent on the USA, and far less relatable to Quebec. What if French speaking Canada just went their own way and the US made states of any province that wants to join us?
When Trudeau took power, the GDP per capita in Canada was similar to the US. Today it is 60% of the USA GDP per capita. Their GDP is currently similar to Mississippi, the worst GDP in the US. Canada could actually be far wealthier by a union with the USA, then the liberal cesspool they have created.
