UNI came out in the FCS coach's poll at 20th.
If you apply that to a power ranking, generally speaking teams in the 20th rank of FCS tend to equate to about 130th range of an overall power ranking. Historically, only the top five-ish FCS teams get into FBS threating range, and 20th is quite a ways down the totem pole.
If you want to use that to extrapolate a suggested margin of victory....it is in the 30 to 35 point range, depending on where you want to rank Iowa State.
I know how we all feel about our history with UNI, but this appears to be one of those years where neither Iowa State nor UNI are the caliber of teams where UNI is within hand grenade range of beating Iowa State.
But to be clear, this exercise is a conversion of a poll to a power ranking...not a power ranking per se.
Without doing proper research, I believe that 5-19 is the only coach since well before the Dan McCarney era to have an Iowa State team lose to a sub-100 power ranked team, no matter how bad Iowa State was.
I hope I didn't just jinx us.
(In my opinion.)
