We all tend to do it. I know I do it. Last year, beating them at their place, we thought things were okay. They were not, said Captain Obvious. This year we are collectively on fan suicide watch.

In reality, they were the same game. Except Iowa made mistakes last year they didn't make this year.

I think we forget some things. Some expected Rocco to be better than Hunter in this game, despite being 3rd string a year ago.

We somehow thought losing 5 starters wouldn't affect us. Come on, now. We can't lose 5 starters unexpectedly and really think things are going to be okay. We have improved depth. But not that much. For this game, we were missing our May 1 (approximately) projected starters at Tackle, RB, QB, TE, NG (co-starter), plus Vaughn and Klotz. That is 7 returning starters, some who have adequately been replaced and others who we are still developing.

But, mostly, this season is about growth from game 2. Last season there wasn't much. If we grow this year, we will see. Because, in reality, we are essentially the same team after 2 games as last year. We have better special teams, so that is a start.
