I've been watching Ken Burns: The Civil War because it's on Netflix. Anyway, they spoke about general Chamberlain for the union being killed in Petersburg, Virginia. In fact, General Grant had his obituary in the newspaper the next day. They make it sound like he didn't survive.

From all the research I've seen it says Chamberlain survived many battle wounds and survived the Civil War and died early 1900's.

Also thought it was interesting that Lincoln's wasn't a fan of General Grant and was pretty vocal about it.

Anyway, just a history geek starting up a conversation with those with similar interest. Beats slow period!
