I enjoy listening to Joel Klatt's Podcasts...One interesting thing he mentioned this week on his Wednesday episode is that 15 of the current top 25 CFP ranked teams were not ranked at all in the preseason polls. And furthermore, 5 of those did not get any votes at all...including current #3 TCU.
He includes his own preseason poll as an example with TX A&M at #8.
Unranked preseason:
3. TCU
7. Tenn
8. Penn St
10. K-State
12. Washington
13. FSU
14. LSU
15. Oregon State
17. UCLA
18. Tulane
19. South Carolina
20. TX
22. UCF
23. UNC
24. Miss St.
Of the 5 of these with no votes in the preseason poll; 4 of those are now top 15: TCU/Wash/FSU/Oregon St
I guess part of this is what makes college football great...due to the unexpected things that can/do happen. It would be pretty boring if the preseason polls were always close to 100% accurate.
