If I recall, you follow the HS baseball scene somewhat. I use to coach HS baseball a long time ago.
Tonight's 4A championship game was a great HS game. But the winning run scored on a 2 out hit and the batter took his helmet off before he got to 1st base. That use to be an automatic out. I know because we got bounced out in a substate final on the same play. It was an emphasis. If the helmet came off on it's own, no penalty. But if the player deliberately removed the helmet, he was out and the runners returned to their previous spots. Has that rule changed?
And, yes, it would be tough to call. But it has been called.
