You pick the fumble result you’d rather have, the games progress from the point of the fumble……….
Here’s the scenarios:
First is the 2013 ISU Texas game where “allegedly” the Short Horns recovered a Texas fumble (TWICE) at the one yard line with about a minute left in the game and the Cyclones leading. Texas wins.
Scenario: ISU recovers the Texas fumble and runs out the clock and likely wins! (ISU ends the season 4 and 8 rather than 3 and 9.) But, Iowa recovers the fumble in the 2022 game, scores a touchdown with 5 minutes 45 seconds left in the third quarter. Iowa now leads 14 to 3. ISU has the rest of the 3rd quarter and all the 4th quarter to possibly come back and win. (No guarantee.) Can ISU come back?
Second is the 2022 Iowa game.
Scenario: ISU recovers the fumble and game progresses with ISU winning. Texas recovers and wins the 2013 game.
Win the Texas 2013 game and take a chance that ISU can score twice in 2022, or lose the 2013 Texas game and beat the Hawks in 2022.
