Earlier this season I watched Virginia Tech pummel our wrestlers 32-3 at Hilton Coliseum in our season opener. It was horrible witnessing what had become of our wrestling program in our own gym. There wasn't much good that happened that day and took the shine off a new season before it even got started.
Fast forward 2 months to the Virginia Duals. Our wrestling team won the first three dual meets to put us in the finals. It would be a rematch against now #5 ranked Virginia Tech. But this time the results would be much different as our wrestlers took the championship by the score of 16-14. I was following via Twitter while at the Women's basketball game but it sure felt like a much more inspired effort. This upset win took some of the sting off of the Baylor men's basketball loss.
Keep it up grapplers!
