The Iowa State women’s basketball team announced its schedule for the 2015-16 season Friday. The Cyclones’ season-opener is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13 against Hampton in Hilton Coliseum at 7 p.m.
The Cyclones’ schedule features 10 games against teams that advanced to NCAA Tournament play last season. A total of six games will be played against teams that advanced to the Sweet 16. In all, Iowa State’s schedule features 19 games against teams that played in a postseason tournament.
After kicking off the season at home against Hampton, the Cyclones hit the road on Nov. 15 to take on Drake in Des Moines, Iowa, in the road opener. The Cyclones will return home on Nov. 22 to face New Orleans at 2 p.m.
Over Thanksgiving Break, Iowa State will travel to Cancun, Mexico, to take part in the Cancun Challenge on Nov. 26-28. ISU’s first game will be against Texas State on Nov. 26, before facing Duke the following day. Iowa State closes out the Cancun Challenge with a game against Idaho.
The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series match-up against the Hawkeyes returns to Hilton Coliseum this season. Iowa State and Iowa will square off on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.
ISU will close out the non-conference schedule with games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 13, Alcorn State on Dec. 20 and Northern Arizona on Dec. 22.
The Cyclones hit the road to open up the Big 12 Conference slate as the team travels to Manhattan, Kansas, to take on Kansas State on Dec. 30. Iowa State will host Oklahoma State on Jan. 2 for the Big 12 home opener.
Kicking off postseason action, the 2016 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship will be held March 4-7 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Dates are still subject to change and a complete schedule featuring tip-off times and television will be announced at a later date.
