Local paper ran an AP story on front page today about the failure of the Democrats' abortion bill in the Senate. It says the bill would have made Roe v Wade federal law, but was blocked by a Republican filibuster.
Two "minor" problems.
1. The bill wouldn't have made Roe federal law. It would have banned virtually every restriction on abortion, up until birth, which is far more radical than Roe.
2. The vote was 51-49 AGAINST...meaning filibuster wasn't involved. The bill failed to get a simple majority of support.
Technically, the vote was on cloture. The story didn't mention that, either.
