So I'm reading this book by Blake Banner in the Dead Cold series and our heroes, a couple of cold case NYC cops by the name of Stone and Dehan, who happen to also be married, are in Iowa at the moment. They are staying in Vinton, while they investigate the disappearance of a young couple and the murder of the girl's parents. The cops are staying in Vinton, but they have just interviewed the girl's aunt, who is the sister of the woman who was murdered. The aunt lives in Garrison, Iowa, a small town of 350 people about 8 miles from Vinton. What's interesting about this is it sounds like this author has actually visited these places at least once, because he names the motel they're staying in in Vinton and there is actually a place with that name in Vinton. He's either visited or done a very thorough tour of these areas on Google maps. Considering how fast this guy writes new books, I'd place my money on the latter. He comes out with a new book in this series about once every two or three months. That would leave very little time for visiting far-flung places, I would think.
I'm not sure which book this is in the Dead Cold series, but it has to be close to 15 or 16. I've been reading all of them because they are entertaining, plus I get a great deal on them through Amazon on my Kindle. I get three books for $9.95, which is usually the cost of one book. They are so entertaining that I haven't even started on the latest Lee Child/Jack Reacher book, which is one of my favorite book series of all time, that I preordered for $14.95.
