I was invited to a couple of Thanksgiving dinners. I am in Ames today. One is a few hours away in eastern Iowa sandwiched between Cyclone home events and the other is in the Des Moines metro. Volleyball beat UCF last night at Hilton in a good match with ISU coming out on top in three straight. So either destination would mean a Thursday morning departure. And I would need to be back tonight for a full day of wrestling activities tomorrow.
- The eastern Iowa trip would have me scrambling this morning to get there in time to get there before noon for the big feast. The hosts are Cyclone fans with a diversified family of guests. UNI, Iowa and Nebraska as well as Iowa State fans will be present. Football will be on the TV per usual. With the GF driving, I would either be listening to the Cyclone broadcast of the MBB game on the long drive back or watching it on my cell phone.
- The Des Moines metro trip would be mid afternoon with the feast at 4:00pm. That is just before tipoff of the Cyclone game and during the Cowboys game on TV. The hosts are all Hawkeye fans or alumni. The GF said I they would let me watch the Cyclone MBB game. I'm not sure I believe her, and none of the others would be interested in watching anyway. There may be some that demand the Cowboy game. The trip is only about an hour, so that's not much of a concern.
