The PAC-12 seems to like expansion in pairs. If they were to look at expansion and Big 12 teams are the ripest targert, it would seem Texas and Oklahoma would be a good pair to add. Oklahoma may not have the academic credentials, but it seems it would be a good pair. If they choose to continue on to 16 teams, why wouldn't Kansas and Iowa State be next? That would allow Utah/Colorado and Arizona/Arizona state to join with the central US teams to form an 8 team division, with teams from the coastal states forming the other division.
Not only would that give the PAC-12 four new states, it also plucks the three AAU schools from the Big 12. I would think that may look rather attractive to the PAC-12, assuming they could overcome the politics of plucking individual schools away from their in state rivals in the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. But I was viewing this as what the PAC-12 may want, assuming the other P5 conferences are off-limits.
