What if: Coaches were simply not allowed to complain to refs?

In yesterday's game, in the first half, Duke was whistled for seven fouls to Wisconsin's two.

Coach K complained to the officials several times throughout the latter part of the first half.

In the first 11 minutes of the second half, the Badgers -- who committed the fewest fouls per game (12.5) in college basketball this season -- were whistled for nine team fouls.

Did Coach K have an effect? Debatable. I believe there's times we've seen coaches seemingly get officials to change the way they're calling a game. Bill Self last season in a game vs. ISU. I'm trying to recall the game this year, but there was one conference game where opposing coach got significantly into ref's ear, and officiating changed for a portion of the game.

So, with that said, what if there was zero tolerance allowed in regard to coaches complaining to officials? Sure seems like it could even up some perceived/real disparities...and take away a tool that some of the real complainers (Huggins, Knight) have used throughout their careers. If nothing else, could alleviate discussion such as what's swirling around about Coach K swaying the officiating last night.

Seems to me like college basketball could rid itself of an Achilles that it's dealing with fairly often. On top of that, in our current situation with Fred, I would think it could only help us out.

Will it happen? No. Could it help the game? I think so.
