A three-star offensive lineman from Detroit (Mich.) with multiple Power-5 offers returned home on Tuesday after spending a few days in state, taking official visits to both Iowa and ISU.

Renaissance senior Alaric Jackson wrapped up his trip on Monday in Ames with a one-day official where he spent some time around the coaching staff and took in the Big Monday basketball game.

“Overall the visit was good,” said Jackson. “There was nothing negative at all. I enjoyed the coaching staff, the great atmosphere and fans. I talked about playing with a friend committed to them, Jalen Martin, and also the schemes they run with the offense. There are some screen plays that I really like.”

Jackson spent some time with offensive line coach and coordinator Tom Manning, who sold him on the position fit.

“Coach Manning is a great guy and I think highly of him,” Jackson said. “He said I could really add a lot to the table with my athleticism and they want to showcase that.”

In addition to I-State and Iowa, Jackson also has P5 offers from Michigan State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kansas, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse and Kentucky.

The 6-foot-7, 285-pound Jackson said the visit was huge in his perception of the Cyclone program.

“I didn’t think of Iowa State at first, but my mind changed a bit due to seeing the facility and the people around the university,” he said. “It’s a nice place.”

Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Julian Good-Jones hosted Jackson on the official visit.
