We have one every week or so, don't we?
Not that anybody gives a damn, but I didn't much like the steel-gray uniforms last Saturday, although I could get used to them, but I REALLY dislike the "look what was on sale at Goodwill" appearance we had today.
It reminded me of a basketball game with Nebraska in Johnny's first or second season. Some genius at the Big Eight office had convinced the members that home crowds really wanted to see their team play at home in road uniforms. So there was going to be one game a year where the home team wore colors and the visitors wore white. There was a mixup. I don't recall now whether Nebraska screwed up or we did -- I'm pretty sure it was us -- but they showed up with whatever color uniform we didn't expect. Let's say they brought only their whites. This wouldn't ordinarily have been a crisis, but our contrasting uniforms were being laundered because the managers didn't think they would be needed that night. Long story short, we came out wearing either red shorts and white jerseys or white shorts and red jerseys. Either way, it was hugely embarrassing. Johnny was super pissed.
The red jerseys and gray pants today brought back that memory.
