With one other Power-5 offer to go with several from other FBS schools, a mammoth offensive tackle from a city southwest of St. Louis, Missouri, has a lot to think about these days.

One of the programs weighing heavily on Festus Jefferson Class of 2017 prospect Shane Clenin’s mind is Iowa State, especially since he’s been on campus on a few occasions over the past month and change.

“I like Iowa State and have been there twice already,” said Clenin. “I went to a Junior Day in early March and went up on another spring practice visit on March 24th. Both trips were a really good time. It’s a nice place. Their facilities are fantastic. They’re pretty hard to beat.

“I really like the coaching staff. I know they’re all from Toledo and I know they had a lot of prior success. There’s no doubt in my mind that they’ll thrive at Iowa State.”

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound Clenin also has a P5 offer from Arkansas to go with other FBS ones from Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, New Mexico and Northern Illinois.

I-State offensive coordinator and line coach Tom Manning has been the lead recruiter for Clenin, and head coach Matt Campbell has also spent time with the junior.

“I’ve been talking to Coach (Tom) Manning throughout much of the process,” Clenin said. “He and Coach Campbell said I’d be a pretty good fit there and they really want to get a chance to work with me to make me the best I can be. They think I can really thrive.”

Clenin appears ready to play out the recruiting process for at least a few more months.

“I’m just kind of putting them all side by side and giving the pros and cons of each school to find out what’s the best fit for me,” he said. “I’m not done with the process yet and have just started.”
