A 2017 three-star running back from Tampa (Fla.) was a part of Iowa State’s big recruiting weekend, spending parts of two days in Cyclone Country.
Malik Davis is a 5-foot-11, 185-pounder from Jesuit High School in Tampa. He was on campus at ISU on Friday and Saturday but did not take part in the camp session on Saturday night. Davis said he learned a lot about the I-State program during his time in Ames.
“It went pretty well up there,” Davis said. “It was a great experience. I got to meet a lot of new people and really get a feel for the school.”
Davis has an impressive offer list that includes a number of Power 5 schools, including Iowa State. He’s also been offered by the likes of Arizona, Boston College, Indiana, Maryland, Miami, Missouri, North Carolina, Purdue, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Illinois.
At this time, Davis doesn’t have any more unofficial visits scheduled for the remainder of the summer, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any.
“I haven’t planned anymore right now, but it will be soon,” said Davis. “I just want to take some more visits before making my decision. It will probably be before my season starts or during it, I haven’t really decided on that yet.
Davis said his previous unofficial visit and camp stops have included Miami, UCF, USF, Florida, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Wake Forest.
Coaches Tyson Veidt and Lou Ayeni have been the primary points of contact for Davis in his relationship with Iowa State, he said.
