What to say. Not much really. What a huge letdown. But, honestly, can we say it was not expected? After the performance against UNI, why would we expect anything different from our early season performances other than, like Charley Brown, we think one of these days Lucy will actually hold that ball. These performances against UNI and SUI are totally predictable. They happen every time.

We have 3 All-Conference players on offense that are producing nothing right now. Purdy, Kolar and Hall. Our line is not noticeably better than it has been - the proverbial "work in progress." The defense has been outstanding, but one mistake against UNI put us in peril because the offense is stagnant. Against Iowa they played nearly flawlessly, but the offense and special teams put them in too many impossible situations. Short fields, and even allowing a defensive touchdown.

I hear that our QB and RB are hurt. I don't know the validity of that but if true you better play your backups. If your number 2's are not better than 80 percent of your number 1's performance, you don't have any depth, despite what a coach says.

So my irrational response is more of same old blah, blah, blah from the coach. My question, is with 20 out of 22 starters back, where is the team that beat Oregon? That beat OU once and took them to the buzzer one more time? It looks like to me that we handled the Covid year better than others, but we can't handle regular order as well as others in the off season, including fall camp. We are not prepared to play at the beginning of a season. It is just getting old.

Not playing UNI or not playing the Sqwauks will not fix that. We sucked against Louisiana. Who knows what we would have done against SDSU. We just are not ready to play at the beginning of seasons. 6 years is not an exception. It is the norm.
