I really only have one thought. His arm strength surprised me. He can really zip the ball and it looks effortless. He underthrew a lot of balls while under duress, but I don't think he had his feet set under him on most of those and was throwing off his back foot. He can throw on the run pretty well too. I haven't seen an ISU QB with that kind of zip on the ball since Seneca Wallace. I still remember the pass Wallace threw in his first spring game into a pretty stiff head wind that went about 45 yards in the air and never got more than 10 feet off the ground. It's odd that an incomplete (overthrown) pass should leave such an impression, but it was then when I knew we had something special.
I'm not comparing Lanning to Wallace (they're completely different kinds of players) but wouldn't it be nice if we had a guy who could throw like Wallace and run like Collin Klein? He has a ways to go to match Wallace's accuracy, but I like his arm strength.
