So I have noticed that the news is back to full fear porn mode the last few days with the rise in "cases" across the country apparently signalling impending doom for the world. The CDC Director and her crocodile tears wants us to "hold on a little longer" and old Joe wants everyone to mask up again. Obviously I am cynical about this whole thing, but there are a couple of things I truly wonder about:
- In reality, hardly any of the country has been "locked down" for many months, so the "hold on a little longer" is really not applicable. I get a kick when even the local Channel 8 news reporters talk about "safe reopening" in their stories, have they truly not looked around? I don't know where they think they are but there is little left to "reopen."
- On that point, even though "cases" are going up (slightly, although percentages can be used to make things look worse), I am not seeing any stories about the hospitals filling up again or needing refrigeration trucks for all of the bodies piling up. Could that be because the hospitalization and death rates are not really increasing? And that we are treating the disease better? Maybe some of the statistical guys on here can investigate.
- Did anyone happen to watch the 60 minutes story on the origins of covid the other night? I am somewhat amazed they took the approach that they did in actually questioning the bullshit WHO story that it originated in animals. But hardly any other media outlets looked and thought "hmmm, they may be on to something..." and instead ran wild with the super bullshit WHO report. Even Channel 8, which is a CBS affiliate, ran with the "it originated in the wet market" story. I honestly don't know how any reasonable person in this country can think that ANYTHING that China says has one ounce of fact.
