First I want to say that I highly respect CPR for what I know about who he is as person and his values. I truly wish that he was successful at ISU. However, he needed to go.

The fans are to thank (or curse) for the firing of CPR. The reality is we expanded the stadium because the fans were committed and showed up. Its hard to see right now but the program in general has momentum because the fans support our team no matter what. It sure as hell isn't because we were winning.

It's because of the fans that Leath/Pollard knew they could not afford to not make a change (sorry for double neg). The fans had CPR fired because at the end of the day they have raised the expectations of this program. As a season ticket holder I was done investing in this program after game last Saturday (actually it was after OSU the week before). I am guessing there are many others thinking the same as me and Pollard/Leath knew that. CPR was fired because of the fans. As fans we are saying that the mediocrity of years past will not be tolerated.

When the President of Alabama was questioned about Saban's $7M+/yr salary he responded by saying he is worth every penny of it. People curse the trend in coaching salaries but Alabama's ROI has been staggering. I am not saying ISU needs to go that far but a winning coach will pay for himself (except in Iowa City where they are 11-0 with empty seats and a coach making $3.65M/yr).

Thank you CyclONE Nation for raising the bar for the program because is sure wasn't the play on the field.
