I know conventional wisdom is to enjoy the big win, new trophy-case hardware, but I am having a hard time. I am jonesing to see my Cyclones make a deep tourney run. I am still haunted by the ghosts of a Mo Peterson back-door slam, confusing blarges, black turtleneck ejections, and Paul Shirley grimaces. ISU had never been so close to the ultimate prize, and has not really tasted it since.
This team has the talent to compete with anyone, and they seem to have figured out how the pieces need to be placed on the chessboard. I want a Final Four, and when CSP calls this team 'special', I think he believes it is possible.
I wonder: How hard did CSP push them during the skid? And to what extent was he pushing and/or allowing the struggle in order to subject them to the adversity needed to prepare them for a run?
