Question mainly for homebrewers, but seasoned tailgaters can certainly weigh in, I'll be making my way toward Iowa starting Thurs then hanging around the state thru the game against EUI on the 11th.
I am a brewer/homebrewer and am thinking about bringing a couple of 2.5 or 3 gallon Cornelius kegs of my latest brews (Kolsch & Oktoberfest) with me for the tailgate. I know the tailgate policy is "no kegs" but these are nothing like the 15.5 gallon commercial half barrels or even the smaller 1/4 barrel "pony kegs" or even 1/6th barrel (sixtel). Kegs this size can easily stay out of view in a 5 gallon round Gott style cooler, so I really don't think I'd run into any issues with the tailgate enforcement folks (if there is such a thing).
But figured before I fill those little kegs and load them up I thought I'd get some input as to if anyone has run into issues having 5 gallon or smaller kegs of homebrew at their tailgate. I realize there is also supposedly a restriction on open bottles of hard liquor and I KNOW that those are pretty standard at many of the tailgates... so I figure it is a non-issue, but would prefer to avoid any unexpected surprises.
I also ask because I am aware that here in Columbus there was a time when tOSU administration actually ticketed some of their donor tailgates for having kegs even inside an RV!?!...that prez..Karen Holbrook is long gone and once described the fairly tame tailgating in the Buckeye Student lots as "absolute drunken orgies". But I digress...and yes I will share.
SO...apologies for the "TL : DR", but only one question:
