Mount Carmel (Ill.) long snapper Steven Wirtel has signed with Iowa State. They are using a scholarship to get him, so he needs to be a good one. Has a chance to be No. 1 as true freshman with Jake Rhoads leaving the program. But there will be some walk-ons competing for the job, too.
