I was skimming the sports page of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier this afternoon and saw mention of Cedar Falls native Barkley Hill, a one-time all-state running back who had given a verbal commitment to Iowa State but eventually signed with the Hawkeyes. He was getting some favorable reviews after a strong spring his freshman year, then went down with a serious knee injury on about the last play of their spring game a few years back.
He never made the grade at Iowa following his recuperation and transferred to UNI where he has now switched to the linebacker spot. He currently sits in the two-deeps as a back-up starter and mentioned that he has a lot to learn in his new position.
And for the inquiring minds out there, there is yet another Farley (Jared) that is seeing time at the UNI linebacker spot.
At church this morning, a young friend who attends UNI told me it will be a close game, but UNI will prevail 28-21. I gave him a chuckle and sent him on his way.
