This is not intended to feel sorry for CPR - or any Division 1 coach - it is the profession they chose. And they are, for the most part, handsomely rewarded for it.
But, in a very real sense, CPR is on the hot seat because over the last 3 years there have been about 8 opportunities for victories that were denied because of questionable officiating and/or failure of 18-22 year old well-meaning athletes to execute what they have been taught. We should have a 3 game winning streak against Texas, had real opportunities against K-State and Tech last year and OSU this year and missed a game-winning chip-shot field goal against Toledo.
But we didn't win those games, games essentially that we were in position to win, and didn't and we have a coach staring at 3-9, 2-10 and 3-9 (with a possibility of a little better). No wonder they age quickly.
