Well, I will say this. I am not an apologist and losing is losing. My old Marine high school coach used to say "the only thing losing does is teach you how to lose." Simple but true. With a little defensive effort by our DL/LB's, we win yesterday. Stop them on one drive. One.
But if I am Matt Campbell this morning, I think my message to the team might just be that we just lost to what might be the best team in the Big 12 by 3. Outside of OU, who I still think if we progress on defense half as much as we have on offense, even they are beatable. But every other Big 12 team, we can beat if our offense plays that consistently, and we can find 2 LB's who can move forward at the snap and fill their gap on runs. This team would be dangerous as hell with AJ and Jake right now. I don't care if we need to have midseason tryouts and encourage kids to walk on at LB, we have to find better options at MLB. Bonacci, the kid from WI that is now an H back, anybody!
I give Harvey a pass because I think Brando said he has a pulled hamstring, and those take a LONG while to heal. That explains that. But move Luna, move Waggoner, move somebody for God Sakes to MLB that can make a tackle. Pull the redshirt off Sutton if necessary, but lets go win some damn games!
