I took a 575-mile drive through 15 counties from Ames deep into Northeast Iowa yesterday...I ended up north of Luana.
Anyway, I drove through Greene late afternoon on my journey back to Ames and have noticed this before....the Shell Rock River is simply beautiful that time of day, with the sun shimmering off the water. Might be the prettiest river in Iowa.
The crops looked outstanding throughout all those counties. Unlike some summer road trips, I never saw a single brown lawn over that many miles.
Not many tassels yet on corn up that way....but you could tell many fields were ready to "pop".
