Saying goodbye to my retired working K9 (Bomb Dog) on Tuesday...seems fitting on Memorial Day weekend to remember that Brian and dogs like him (military and police K9's) give their lives in service to our country. Brian and I joined up at Lackland AFB back in 2013 and he worked for 6 years in Phoenix keeping people safe until he was forced into retirement with Cardiomyopathy. He is/was an incredible dog, passed every test ever given with flying colors and made a good number of real finds over the years. He was the first DHS Passenger screening dog (Vapor wake trained) at Sky Harbor and founded the program there. He has earned his rest but I will miss him every damn day until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge. Just though some of the dog lovers here on the site might be willing to say a prayer for Brian as his time comes to an end.
