AMES, Iowa – Iowa State junior linebacker Jordan Harris received national honors this week for his performance in the Cyclones’ 24-0 shutout victory over Texas on Saturday.
Harris was honored as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week.
A native of Clarksdale, Miss., Harris had seven tackles, 0.5 TFL and recorded his first career interception to help Iowa State notch just its third shutout against a Big 12 opponent in school history.
Harris, who has 49 tackles while starting all eight games this year, was a key member of ISU’s group defensive effort on Saturday which held the Longhorns to just 204 yards of total offense. That total is the third-lowest a Cyclone team has surrendered vs. a Big 12 opponent in school history.
