AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior defensive back Anthony Johnson Jr. has accepted an invitation to play in the 2023 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, to be played Saturday, January 28 at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California. It is the 11th time the game will be played with the 2023 version airing on the NFL Network.

Johnson, a St. Petersburg, Florida, native, moved from cornerback to safety for his fifth season playing at Iowa State and matched his career high with 60 tackles. He also picked off the first two passes of his career and forced a fumble for the Cyclones.

Johnson earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Second Team in 2022 after being an honorable mention pick the previous three seasons.

He started 54 games in his career, the most by any player in Big 12 history. Johnson finished his career with 243 tackles and 27 pass breakups to go along with two interceptions.
