AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men’s basketball senior forward Aljaž Kunc has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

In 16 games this season, Kunc is averaging 9.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, along with 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Kunc has scored in double figures in each of his last three games, including a career-high 22 points in a win over TCU. Kunc missed the first nine Big 12 games with a broken finger.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, be a sophomore academically and have a year-in-residence at their current school and have appeared in at least 50 percent of the team's contest.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men’s and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
